Ken Glover

A graduate of Southern University Law Center, Mr. Glover was a well-known trial attorney.  Mr. Glover gained admission to the Florida Bar in 1977, and he served as the first black prosecutor in Polk County.

Not only was Mr. Glover known for his legal prowess and advocacy skills, he was also actively involved in the community.  Mr. Glover served as President of the Lakeland chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People whose vision “is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.”

As one of the first African-American attorneys in the Tampa Bay area, he wanted to ensure that the door was kept open for others that would follow him.  In addition to being one of our illustrious founders, he also assisted in founding the Virgil Hawkins Bar Association.

Mr. Glover was a wonderful attorney who hoped to encourage others to join the practice of law in order to improve the profession, itself, as well as to ensure that the profession is as diverse and representative as the population that it serves.
